Long Distant Friendships - 3 ways to stay connected (and Itty Bitty postcards help!)

We all know how important our best friends are to us but sometimes when we don't get to see them all the time, staying connected with them seems hard! Everyone is busy - and if there's any time differences thrown in the mix that's just another obstacle! So how can we make time to stay connected to your far away friends?

Well, my family and friends are spread all over the world so I have a few tips and I'd love to hear any you have in the comments too!

Use the power of technology to keep in touch! Most of us have some sort of social media account, whether you're on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Firstly, go to their account on purpose, often the algorithms will hide people's updates from you and you could be missing things you'd like to see! (On facebook make sure you've starred or favourited their account so you see their posts first).

Then when you're scrolling through the newsfeeds and have across memes, pictures or quotes you see and think 'oh my goodness, 'insert friends name' would love that! Rather than tagging them in the comments why not send the image as a direct message with something simple and sweet like; 'I saw this and thought of you'. They'll know that you're thinking about them, and you put in a little bit of effort by sending them a message, if you add on - 'what are you up to this week' that will start a conversation and let see into their week a little.
Some other simple switches you can make are facetime/skype instead of phoning and Whats app voice message instead of texting. It's amazing how much more you can say in a 10-second voice message than texting for 10 seconds! Plus hearing each other's voices is lovely and makes you feel more connected too.

Don't forget about old friends too, there's nothing I love more than an old friend who I fell out of touch with popping up with a little memory every now and then. If you come across an old photograph of you two on one of your accounts, or something that strikes a memory between them let them know! Send them the image in a message and ask how they are! You don't have to strike up a full conversation but sometimes it's just nice to hear from people who you used to be close with and know that we are in their thoughts.

Plan a once in a lifetime trip - Okay definitely easier said than done, we know that... However, where there's a will there's a way. Plan it out! (planning and looking forward to a holiday apparently is where 15% of the joy is!) Nearly anything can be planned and saved for in a year or 2 :) or just be impulsive if you can just put it on a credit card, why not - experiences are far more valuable than things - just cut back on the shoe shopping when you get home ;) A great way to tell your friend you're coming to see them would be with the 'Let's go on an Adventure' Print. For far away friends planning a trip for a both of you together, somewhere in the middle would be awesome fun too!

Send something in the mail - Snail mail is making a comeback and it's not hard to see why! Getting something nice in amongst the bills would make anyone's day! Keep it simple, and just send a postcard, it takes 2 minutes! Let them know what you've been up to or just how much you miss them! (Or simply just send them a cool postcard because you think they'll like the design!

Basically, just letting your friend know that they are in your thoughts with a postcard is a more personal way than sending a text and way more exciting for them! This is the perfect way to stay in touch with friends that live in different countries.

With that in mind, we have launched a range of postcards fit for this very purpose. Get your pack here and get posting to the long-distance friends and family that mean the most! With 6 of our best-selling designs now available as postcards we're sure they'll be some you'll love sending and maybe one or two designs that you'll not want to part with.
